Updated: Feb 26, 2022

Do you have a little animal lover at home? Does your daughter dream of becoming a veterinarian? Or does your son wish to keep a tadpole as a pet?

There are several options in Calgary offering summer Day Camps for the next Dog Whisperer or Doc McStuffins!

1- Veterinary Camps at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Calgary.

It doesn’t get more real than this! Designed for young teenagers in Grades 7-9, this camp provides real hands-on experience with animals such as dogs, cows, and horses!

FYI – As of February 14th, the camps are full but you have the option of being added to the Waiting List. Put a note into your calendar for next year!

2- The Calgary Humane Society Day Camps

The package deal! Students from Grade 1 to Grade 9 will be given the opportunity to learn more about dogs, cats, bunnies, reptiles, birds and more! Days are filled with animal encounters, fun activities and learning more about the different careers in pet care.

Note: Day Camp registrations open mid-February. Don’t miss it!

3- Summer Zoo Camps

If your child is interested in ecology, the environment, and wild animals, the Calgary Zoo has a variety of camps designed for all ages and interests! Learn more about zoology, animal husbandry, veterinary science, conservation, and biology!

Note: Registrations for summer day camps at the Zoo are open.

4- Butterfield Acres Summer Camps

Your child can get a real taste of what it’s like to work on a farm. Designed for children 3 to 14 years old, the Butterfield Acres Day Camps are filled with sunshine, farm activities, songs and close interactions with the barn animals.

Note: Registrations for summer camps are currently open.

5- City of Calgary “Nature Day Camps”

For your future biologists, the Nature Day Camps are a perfect choice! Located at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary and Ralph Klein park, these camps allow children to discover the wonders of nature while learning more about birds, insects, and plants.
